In 1986 Ragnhild participated in the large
International Art Festival at Sola Beach
near Stavanger, Norway
The installation travelled on, as a piece of
conceptual art, to Hå Gamle Prestgard and
finally became a commissioned installation
at Korgen Power Station.

In 1987 The Norwegian Broadcasting Company
(NRK) made a television program about Ragnhild.
As part of the program Ragnhild constructed a
textile art installation which was very well
received.
We thank again the creative and helpful staff
of NRK who added further lighting, sound
and movement dimensions to this
amazing installation.
This is the first part and credits to all involved
are shown in this section - please do watch this
before the other sections

Every year in Bergen an international Music Festival is held.
As part of this festival Bergen Kunstforrening invite one artist
to occupy their spacious premises with an art exhibition.

In 1997, for the first time in the 27 year history of the festival,
a textile artist was chosen to exhibit. Ragnhild Monsen.

Her solo exhibition was officially opened in the presence of their
majesties HM King Harald V and HM Queen Sonja who graciously
attended.

In this frist video clip Ragnhild is  showing their Majesties
around the exhibition of very large tapestries.

Ragnhild continues to explain to their Majesties her
sources of inspiration and the methodologies by which
she translates the initial concept into the
hand-woven tapestry.

You will doubtless notice that the tapestries are large.

If you wish to see Ragnhild actually weaving
you can do so here
